I am the owner of a renovation/restoration company, Kara O’Brien Renovations and a licensed contractor.
I work predominantly on historic homes in the Atlanta area, although I also work on newer homes as well and mid-century homes. Pretty much, if you can live in it, I have probably worked on that type of home.
I also specialize in restoring old house architectural antiques from lighting, mantels, heart of pine flooring, medicine cabinets, stair parts, tile, etc. And I relish build and restoring with restored old materials whenever possible. Sometimes, just one small reclaimed and recycled old house part can really be a focal point in a newly renovated space or a newly built addition.
And sometimes, we’ll create an entire new space using mostly salvaged (and sometimes repurposed architectural parts and pieces).
Lately, I’ve done a lot of work crafting custom woodwork: bath vanities, cabinets, built-in pieces, lawyer’s bookcases, custom historic bookcases, and even furniture. Because I work with such talented wood crafters, we can make anything out of wood.
