We removed a wall and renovated this 1920s kitchen in 2015 to timeless pepper hued Craftsman style cabinets, African granite with a crema marfil subway tile backsplash, undercabinet lighting, undermount sink, and brushed nickel pendant lights. A new microwave has been installed for convenience and more countertop space.
Jacobean stained cabinets juxapose sleek Craftsman lines with the reclaimed heart of pine bar with late 1800s Italianate corbels, granite counters and creamy marble subway tile splash.
We used reclaimed heart of pine flooring on the back of the penisula. The brackets are Italianate in style, from Philadelphia and support the granite bar.
There is also Craftsman-style stained glass in the gable.

The original brick fireplace with the terracotta tiled pad is the focal point of the living room and has been outfitted with 99% efficient vent free gas logs. The logs are wonderful for heating the space in the winter and reduce overall central heat bills.
An original archway opens up the space of the living room into the dining room. The openness of this house makes it a great space for entertaining or simply living. The light filters from room to room and the custom painted colors are great in the home.

The Kirkwood Neighborhood

The powerful Kirkwood Neighbors’ Organization composed of active neighbors, holds monthly meetings. Demand for homes in the area has skyrocketed as young professionals return to Intown neighborhoods to reclaim the strong sense of community they lost in the suburbs.
