After kitchens, bathrooms are the second most important part of a home. Like kitchens, bathrooms can make a statement about your flair or the personality or vintage of your home.
When we began renovating homes, as Laughing Sun Renovations in 1997, we quickly learned that having a master suite retreat, with a bathroom adjoining the master bedroom, provided a luxury not found in many old houses. And so we figured out a way to make this a reality, if it was possible with space constraints.
Timeless bathrooms are our specialty, whether renovating a bathroom in a historic home or a newer home. Infusing the bathroom with the focal point architectural element, such as a vintage medicine cabinet or a vanity custom crafted from reclaimed heart of pine wood, makes the newly renovated space resonate with the warmth of time past–and it makes a bathroom an integral part of an old house.
On the flip side, we have renovated bathrooms with a modern twist, going for the art of terrazzo glass/concrete counters or Caribbean-blue themed vanities, vanities with bamboo legs, or other funky finishes.
