This bathroom started life as a bedroom. The fluted oak trim and parquet floors were beautiful, but completely at odds with the Craftsman detailing of the rest of the house. We gutted the space (saving the trim and other elements for later re-use) and performed significant structural repair.
The custom-built vanity was designed by the homeowner to have traditional, flush-inset Shaker styling and to maximize storage potential. It was topped with dramatically-veined China Brown marble, adding a richness to the bright and airy space.
The large shower stall features travertine on the walls and ceiling, a rain-head shower, and a floor-to-ceiling custom shower door.
The heart of pine 6 panel door and antique hardware were selected from our salvage inventory to lend a sense of history, warmth and coherency to the addition.
The floor tiles are travertine, and the windows are new, energy-efficient solid wood windows. The trim was custom milled to match the original profiles found in the house.
The bathroom features a nook for new washer & dryer and a private, yet brightly lit, water closet alcove. This space also provides ample room for additional storage.
