We are so passionate about wood—it’s obvious!
When we began renovating houses as Laughing Sun Renovations in 1997, we were intrigued with historic renovation and the detail found in old houses. The more we studied old houses and what made them spectacular; we found that old houses celebrated the art of wood and woodwork.
Wainscoting, stairs, kitchen woodwork, heavy beautiful doors, mantels, inlaid floors, and built-in bookcases, cabinets, colonnades, and other features prevailed in old houses. It wasn’t long before we were reproducing these gorgeous elements out of woods as simple as pine and as fancy as walnut or cherry.
At Kara O’Brien Renovations, we found talented craftsman to build our visions and our client’s visions, whether we were inlaying dragonflies in cherry columns with ebony/ ivory recycled piano keys or reproducing a homeowner’s 120 year old oak door with inset cast iron.
In fact, if you can imagine it in wood, we can craft it. We love the difficult assignments from spiral stairs in tight spots to intricate furniture for that odd space beside your couch.
